Mysterious Fire Destroys 4000 EVMs in Kolkata Alipore Building

A massive fire at a government building in Kolkata’s Alipore area has destroyed nearly 4,000 EVMs used across 10 constituencies in the recent West Bengal Assembly elections. State Fire Minister Kaushik Chowdhury flagged the incident as highly suspicious, noting that the flames mysteriously skipped the middle floors to gut the top floors where the EVMs were stored. This unusual burn pattern has triggered an intense political storm, especially since TMC leader Mamata Banerjee had already announced plans to file a legal case challenging the vote counting. Amid allegations of a deliberate attempt to destroy crucial electoral evidence, the Kolkata Police has registered an FIR and formed a SIT to investigate potential sabotage.
