Share the memes, quote the essays, screenshot the manifesto — just don't sell it, fake it, or campaign with it. The exact rules follow.

The short version

Essays and text: share and adapt non-commercially with credit (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0). Logo and emblem: all rights reserved, editorial use permitted. Screenshots and memes for social sharing: encouraged, with attribution. Commercial reuse, implied endorsement, or use in real electoral campaigning: written permission required — and for campaigning, refused.

What the project owns

Unless otherwise stated, all original material on this website is the copyright of The Cockroach Janta Party— the essays and articles, the satirical manifesto, page copy, posters and illustrations, graphics, the website design, and videos produced by the project. The project’s name, logo, and cockroach emblem are its brand identity.

What you may do without asking

Text content — CC BY-NC-SA 4.0

Written content is released under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 licence unless a specific page says otherwise. In practice: quote it, translate it, remix it — non-commercially, crediting “The Cockroach Janta Party” with a link back, and sharing your adaptation under the same licence.

Screenshots, memes, and social sharing

Screenshotting pages, sharing posters to Instagram, quoting the manifesto on X — this is a meme project; sharing is the point. Keep the attribution visible (or add a credit), do not crop it into something that misrepresents what the site says, and do not paywall it.

Press and journalism

Journalists may use the name, logo, and imagery in editorial and reporting contexts. The Press Kit has clean assets; reach info@thecockroachjantaparty.org.in for anything else.

What needs written permission — or is refused

  • Commercial reuse of any content — merchandise, paid products, ads.
  • The logo and emblem beyond editorial use. These are all-rights-reserved brand marks, not part of the CC licence.
  • Anything implying endorsement or affiliation — presenting your product, account, or organisation as connected to or approved by this project.
  • Use in actual electoral campaigning. This project is satire and is not registered with the Election Commission of India; its branding may not be used by any real candidate, party, or campaign. Such requests are refused as a policy, not negotiated.
  • Republishing substantial portionsof the site wholesale, even non-commercially, beyond what the CC licence’s attribution and share-alike terms cover in good faith.

The name and the brand

“The Cockroach Janta Party”, “TCJP”, and the cockroach emblem are unregistered marks of this project, protected by common-law passing-off principles. The “party” in the name is satirical — it is not an Election Commission registration and confers none. Names, marks, and references to real parties, politicians, and companies that appear in our commentary remain the property of their owners and appear for the purpose of criticism, review, and parody.

Satire, criticism, and fair dealing

Our own use of third-party material — quoting reporting, referencing public statements, parodying public imagery — is made as fair dealing for criticism, review, and reporting of current events under Section 52 of the Copyright Act, 1957, and as political satire protected by Article 19(1)(a) of the Constitution. We extend the same courtesy we claim: parody of this project is fine; plagiarism of it is not.

Third-party assets we use

  • Typefaces — Bowlby One, Inter, Oswald, Permanent Marker, and Noto Serif Devanagari, under the SIL Open Font License via Google Fonts, self-hosted at build time.
  • Icons — Lucide (ISC licence); social-brand glyphs from Simple Icons (CC0), each mark remaining the trademark of its network.
  • Embedded videos — YouTube embeds remain the property of their creators and play from YouTube in privacy-enhanced mode.
  • AI-assisted artwork — some posters and illustrations are produced with AI assistance and human review; responsibility for what is published rests with the project (see the AI disclosure).

Infringement claims and takedowns

If you believe material on this site infringes your copyright or other rights, send a notice to contact@thecockroachjantaparty.org.in including:

  1. The exact URL and identification of the material at issue.
  2. Identification of your work and proof of your ownership or authority to act.
  3. Your contact details.
  4. A good-faith statement that the use is not authorised by you or the law.

We review notices promptly, remove or disable material where the claim is substantiated, and tell you the outcome. If we believe the use is lawful — for instance, fair dealing for parody or criticism — we will say so and explain why. Unresolved disputes follow the grievance process.
