Refund Policy.
Support payments are voluntary thank-yous, not purchases — but genuine mistakes get fixed. Here is exactly how.
The short version
What this policy covers
This policy applies to voluntary support payments made through the Support the Developer page — UPI payments within India and PayPal payments internationally. These payments are received personally by the independent developer who runs this website and fund hosting, domains, infrastructure, and maintenance.
Nothing is sold on this website. A support payment buys no goods, services, membership, merchandise, or privileges — so there are no orders to cancel and no deliveries to return. This policy exists for transparency and to deal fairly with genuine payment mistakes, not because a sale has taken place.
The general rule
Support payments are voluntary and are generally non-refundable. They are gratuitous payments — the digital equivalent of buying someone a chai — and once applied to website costs they cannot practically be unwound.
When we will refund
- Mistaken amount — you meant to send ₹99 and sent ₹9,900.
- Duplicate payment — the same intended payment went through more than once.
- Unauthorised payment — a payment made from your account without your permission. (Also report this to your bank or UPI app, or to PayPal, immediately — they run their own dispute processes with stronger powers than ours.)
Requests must reach us within 7 days of the transaction. Beyond that window we will still read your mail, but the presumption shifts to non-refundable.
How to raise a request
- Email contact@thecockroachjantaparty.org.in with REFUND in the subject line.
- Include: the payment date, the amount, the method (UPI or PayPal), and the payment reference — the 12-digit UPI UTR from your payment app, or the PayPal transaction ID.
- Say briefly what went wrong (mistake, duplicate, unauthorised).
We verify every request against the actual UPI statement or PayPal activity. Expect an acknowledgement within 48 hours and a decision within 7 working days. Approved refunds are returned to the same instrument the payment came from — the originating UPI account or PayPal account — never to a different account.
Effect on the Supporter Wall
If a payment is refunded, any Supporter Wall entry linked to it is removed. You can also ask for your wall entry to be removed at any time without a refund — see the Support Policy.
A note on consumer law
Because support payments are voluntary and purchase no goods or services, they do not create a buyer–seller relationship under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019. This policy is offered voluntarily, as a matter of fairness and transparency. It does not limit any statutory rights you may have, including your bank’s or payment provider’s chargeback and dispute processes.
