Editorial Policy.
Satire only works if readers can trust the line between the joke and the fact. This is where we draw it, in writing.
The short version
What we publish, and why
The Cockroach Janta Party is an independent satire and civic-commentary project. We publish essays, a satirical manifesto, memes, and community discussions about Indian public life — unemployment, institutions, media, and the everyday absurdity of politics. The purpose is public-interest commentary and entertainment, protected as speech under Article 19(1)(a) of the Constitution and exercised with the responsibility that protection deserves.
Fact, opinion, satire — the three registers
Factual claims
Where a piece cites a specific incident, statistic, or action by a public figure, the citation is intended to be accurate and grounded in the public record — reputable reporting, official data, court records, or primary sources. We do not invent statistics and present them as real. If a number is illustrative or exaggerated for effect, the surrounding satire makes that unmistakable.
Opinion and commentary
Judgements, criticism, and analysis are the project’s editorial views — fair comment on matters of public interest. They are evaluations drawn from disclosed facts, not assertions of secret ones, and they represent this project alone, not any political organisation (there is none behind this site).
Satire
The party staging — the name, the manifesto ceremony, the slogans, the leader on a jeep — is parody. It exaggerates, invents ritual, and mocks power. It targets public figures in their public roles and public institutions in their public conduct; it does not target private individuals’ private lives. The Satire Disclaimer maps the line item by item.
AI assistance
Some text, artwork, or translations are produced with AI assistance. Everything AI-assisted is reviewed and edited by a human before publication, and editorial responsibility rests entirely with the project — “the tool did it” is not a defence we will ever offer.
Corrections
- How to request one: email info@thecockroachjantaparty.org.in identifying the page, the exact passage, and what is wrong with it. Public figures and their representatives are welcome to use the same channel.
- What happens: we acknowledge within 48 hours, review against sources, and where the claim is substantiated we correct the passage and note the correction on the page.
- What does not qualify: disagreeing with an opinion, or objecting that satire is unflattering. Those are the point.
Updates
Pages carry a Last updated date where it matters. Material rewrites of policy or factual pieces are flagged; fixing typos and formatting is not.
Community submissions are not editorial
Chat messages, Raise Your Voice posts, comments, and Supporter Wall notes are written by community members and reflect their views, not the project’s. They are moderated against the Community Guidelines — but moderation is hygiene, not endorsement. Where user content appears alongside editorial content, context makes the authorship clear.
Editorial independence
- No political party, campaign, or candidate funds, directs, or reviews our content.
- No corporate sponsorships, paid placements, or advertorials exist on this site.
- Voluntary developer-support payments fund infrastructure only and buy no editorial influence — at any amount. See the Support Policy and Transparency.
