Unaddressed Policy Contradictions: High Fuel Costs, Mandatory Ethanol Blending (E20), and Aggressive EV Mandates

I am submitting this grievance to highlight the growing disconnect between recent transport energy policies, public statements made by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, and the financial reality faced by everyday Indian motorists.

While the stated goal of transition to green energy and import substitution is understandable, the current implementation strategy relies on regulatory force rather than consumer benefit or engineering readiness.

1. Ethanol Blending (E20) and Fuel Pricing Inequity Unfulfilled Price Relief Promises: Union Minister Nitin Gadkari publicly stated that ethanol-blended fuels would significantly lower retail prices. However, consumers are paying standard—or higher—petrol prices for E20 blended fuel, despite ethanol having lower energy density, which results in a 5% to 10% drop in overall fuel efficiency. Consumers are essentially paying full price for less energy per litre.
